Coach Factory Stores, the powerhouse outlet veteran and magnet tenant, triumphed again as the Best Overall Chain at the presentation of the 4th annual Outlet Retail Chain Awards (ORCA). The awards ceremony was held in September at the 2007 VRN Fall Outlet Retail Convention in East Rutherford, N.J.

Canadian Winner
Canadian-based Hatley, which operates one outlet store in the Northeastern U.S., appeals in a big way to animal lovers with merchandise full of beasts and puns. The chain expects to add at least one more outlet store here in the next five years.
Chelsea takes over Las Americas
The Shops at Las Americas in San Diego on the U.S./Mexican border, has a new owner and a new name, Las Americas Premium Outlets. Simon Property Group recently acquired the property and turned its management over to its outlet affiliate, Chelsea Property Group.
Prime Outlets International Opens
Prime Retail officially launched the first phase of Prime Outlets International following the total renovation of the center it acquired in Orlando in May 2005.
Viejas to Build Resort
The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians in September announced plans for an $800 million resort and casino project adjacent to Viejas Outlet Center in Alpine, Calif.
El Paso Center Opens Oct. 11
If the turnout for the mid-August job fair to fill about 800 jobs at El Paso, Texas’ first outlet center was any indication, residents can’t wait for the center to open on Oct. 11.
