    Outlets and Gaming

Gaming fever has seized the outlet center industry, with developers choosing sites practically on top of casinos, racetracks and slot-machine venues, as well as partnering with those establishments in their markets to develop cross-marketing programs. The package of stories includes:

    Horizon’s Good Bet in Laughlin
Talk about saturation marketing: Each of the 11,000-plus hotel rooms in blistering Laughlin, Nev., contains tabletop and TV advertising for the town’s only air-conditioned mall: Horizon Outlet Center.

    The Walk at Atlantic City
Last year Atlantic City attracted 35-million visitors, and Cordish Co.’s two-year-old outlet project there is doing so well that a 350,000-sf expansion is planned.

    Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas
Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas is the only outlet center directly connected to a gaming establishment, and the second shopping center of any ilk, after the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, to be physically attached to a casino.

    Outlets at Loveland
Highway signage from heaven: The Outlets at Loveland and Cloverleaf Greyhound Track share billing at an exit of Colorado Highway 34 West, just west of Interstate 25.

    What Mississippi Knows
Prime Outlets at Gulfport, Casino Factory Shoppes and Vicksburg Factory Shops, all in Mississippi, have long enjoyed the relationship with gaming.
